John Losey speaking with an audience

A guide, advisor and lifelong learner

John describes himself as a guide and an Organizational Ecologist.

His background in biology and naturalist thinking shaped how he sees organizations: not as machines to be fixed, but as living systems made up of people, relationships, structures, resources and environments. Understanding how those parts affect one another is usually the first step toward helping them work better.

As a guide, he doesn’t arrive with a ready-made answer. He helps people see their situation clearly, think it through and decide what to do next.

Why I do this work

Everyone deserves professional development.

I believe that growth shouldn’t be reserved for senior executives or for people in large organizations with big training budgets. Everyone, at every level, can keep learning, and the people and organizations around them are better for it.

That learning shows up in practical ways: more capability, better conversations, better decisions and more useful action. Over time it helps build healthy organizations and progress that lasts.

How I work

I work as a guide and thought partner. Every situation is different, but the work usually moves through the same kinds of questions:

  1. Understand the situation
  2. Clarify what matters
  3. Explore possibilities
  4. Make choices
  5. Take practical action
  6. Learn from experience
  7. Adjust as needed

Three decades of learning, leadership and organizational work

John’s leadership and learning work dates back to 1992.

As Leadership Training & Development Manager for the University of Farmers Claims Division, he designed, delivered and evaluated leadership development for thousands of claims managers and supervisors. He then spent nearly a decade as an internal consultant and senior advisor at a large corporate university, advising senior leaders and C-suite executives.

Across that work he has focused on leadership, engagement, communication, coaching, creativity and innovation, emotional intelligence, quality thinking and organizational development. IntoWisdom Group, which he founded, is the current home for that work.

Learning Design

Designing learning experiences that connect ideas to real work.

Why organizations as ecosystems?

Seeing organizations as ecosystems is the heart of John’s Organizational Ecologist perspective: a challenge rarely exists in isolation, so it helps to look at the people, relationships, structures and context around it.

  • No one-size-fits-all solutions
The Facilitators' Guild crest

A related, separate community

The Facilitators’ Guild

John is also developing The Facilitators’ Guild, a community and framework for facilitators. The Guild is separate from IntoWisdom Group: it isn’t a certification body, doesn’t provide facilitator training and isn’t an IntoWisdom service. It’s intended to grow its own identity and, in time, its own website.

Let’s talk about your next step

If you’re facing a challenge, a decision or a chance to grow, a conversation is a good place to start.
