How IntoWisdom Works

From insight to practical action

IntoWisdom helps people and organizations understand what is happening, make sense of what matters, explore possibilities and take practical action.

A cycle, not a checklist

Every engagement is different, but the work tends to move through the same kinds of questions. Real work often moves back and forth between them.

  1. Understand Clarify what’s happening and what’s really at stake.
  2. Define Success Agree on what a good outcome looks like and how you’ll recognize it.
  3. Explore Consider perspectives, possibilities and connections.
  4. Decide Identify the next best step.
  5. Act Put the decision into practice.
  6. Learn Reflect on what happened and determine what comes next.

What you learn becomes the starting point for the next round of understanding, so the work continues as a cycle rather than ending at a single answer.

What happens at each stage

Stage 1

Understand

Understanding comes before prescribing solutions.

  • What is happening?
  • What matters?
  • Who is affected?
  • What context surrounds the challenge?
  • What assumptions are shaping the situation?

Stage 2

Define Success

Before looking for answers, agree on what a good outcome would be.

  • What would better look like here?
  • How will we recognize progress?
  • Whose view of success matters?

Stage 3

Explore

Curiosity widens the options before anything is narrowed down.

  • What perspectives haven’t we heard?
  • What possibilities, patterns and relationships are there?
  • What constraints and resources do we have?
  • What has already been tried?

Stage 4

Decide

Choices get clearer when the tradeoffs are visible.

  • What matters most?
  • What choices are available?
  • What are the tradeoffs?
  • What is the next useful decision?

Stage 5

Act

Decisions become real through practical action.

  • What are we committing to, and who owns it?
  • What small experiment or conversation comes first?
  • How will we keep momentum?

Stage 6

Learn

Learning keeps going after a project ends.

  • What happened?
  • What worked?
  • What did we learn?
  • What needs to change?
  • What is the next best step?

Different work, same philosophy

The cycle looks a little different depending on the kind of work.

Facilitation

Help groups work through complexity toward shared understanding and action.

Organizations as ecosystems

A challenge rarely exists in isolation.

People, structures, relationships, culture, resources, technology and environment influence one another. So IntoWisdom looks beyond the most obvious problem to understand the system around it, and helps make changes that fit.

What this means for you

  • No one-size-fits-all program
  • Clear conversations about your actual situation
  • Methods chosen to fit your context
  • Participation rather than passive learning
  • Practical tools and resources
  • Attention to what happens after the workshop or engagement
  • Learning from experience along the way
